Everett Animal Welfare Group, Inc. (EAWG) wants to help you to learn the skills and get access to the equipment you need to help free-roaming cats. Here’s what to do:
PLEASE ANSWER ALL OF THE QUESTIONS ON THIS FORM (even if you have to answer N/A). Thank you!
EAWG volunteers will be available to answer any questions you may have throughout the project. Hundreds of people have taken the workshop nationwide and learned how to transform “Free-Roaming Cats” (not spayed or neutered; not vaccinated for rabies; and not ear tipped) into “Community Cats” (spayed/neutered/vaccinated and ear tipped). If you are ready to help the cats you are feeding to lead healthier happier lives through TNR, let’s get started!
1. Who referred you to Everett Animal Welfare Group? (First and last name or organization). Let us know if you heard about the class on Facebook.*
2. TNR Classes are held on the first and third Saturdays of every month. The classes are from 10:00 am to Noon and are held at 3700 Creighton Rd, Suite 10, Pensacola, FL 32504. Please be specific about which SATURDAY (first or third), what MONTH, and the DATE of the class you want to attend.*
3. What is the address OR general area where the cats are being fed? Please give the closest major intersection or cross streets and what side of town--north, south, east, west?*
4. Are they being fed at the same time each day? Yes or No? If yes, what time of the day are they being fed?*
5. How many cats are there to catch?*
6. Are there any kittens? Please give as much detail as possible for each kitten..If none, please type N/A or None. How many kittens? How old are they? How many can you pick up and hold, if any?*
If you or a friend can foster, all adoptable cats may participate by appointment in our low-cost vetting and Adoption Saturdays at local pet stores.
Are you willing to foster? Please tell us yes or no and give us details, if possible.*
If so, would you like us to send additional information in another email entitled "Kitty Help" about fostering? Please answer yes or no.*
7. Do any of the cats look like they are pregnant? Please let us know yes or no. If yes, please share any details you have about how many or what you know about the pregnant cats. *
Have you noticed any howling or mating behavior? Please answer yes or no or if you're unsure. *
8. Have you ever used a traditional metal trap before? If so, what kind? (i.e., Silver, TruCatch brown, Tomahawk/Neighborhood Cat Gravity trap)*
Do you have access to any traditional traps? Please answer yes or no and feel free to share additional details about trap availability.*
9. Have you ever heard of a "drop trap"? (We have a few to loan.) Please answer yes or no and share details if possible.*
A drop trap is one approach to catch a specific cat quickly among several or to avoid, for instance, a litter of kittens; a mom cat in heat or mating or possibly newly pregnant; or to catch an injured cat. It can also be used to catch multiple cats fast. If you have Internet access, please visit our webpage for YouTube videos showing how a drop trap is used. Some of the drop traps might be slightly different, but they use the same concept. If you have Internet access, please go to YouTube and watch this video to see how it is used. (Our trap is slightly different but it uses the same concept.) Paste the following link in your browser to view the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SydX7jnox8 Also, please watch the video at the link below to learn how you can use a brown trap as a drop trap using a trick stick, by copying and pasting the following URL in your browser. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aBUO9ja6b8&t=5s

Did you view the drop trap videos described above on YouTube? Please answer yes or no.*
10. Do you intend to return the cats from where they are trapped and continue to feed them? Please answer yes or no and give details if you have additional information.*
11. Can you pay for the spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations? Please answer yes, no, or unsure.*
12. Someone else near you may also be feeding the cats, and they don't know you care. Have you actually walked around the streets surrounding the area to speak with other residents and/or businesses about your concerns? Use the space below to give details if you have spoken to others or not. *
Were any people or businesses willing to help by donating money, time, or effort to help the cats? Please answer yes, no, or you're not sure yet.*
You cannot skip the step above if finances are an issue. Also, to catch the cats we must be sure no one is feeding them just before we try to trap them for surgery. If you suspect others may be feeding the cats, water resistant signs should be posted the day before trapping to ask people not to feed the cats so the trapping for spay and neuter surgery will be successful.
13. Do you have another person helping you to trap, transport, or hold the cats before or after surgery? Please answer yes or no and give any helpful details.*
Is there someone you can ask for help? Please answer yes or no.*
14. Are you willing to check your email every day while we are working on this project together? Please answer yes or no.*
After surgery, males can be released after one night (24 hours post-surgery) if there are no complications such as excessive bleeding, wounds, or other serious medical conditions that are treatable.
For females, it is major surgery, and the stitches are water soluble so she needs to stay inside if the ground where she lays will be wet or damp or if rain is predicted. If her stitches dissolve before enough healing has taken place, she can hemorrhage and die. Females need to stay in for at least 2 nights if there are no complications. Cats who are spayed while in heat or pregnant may require additional time to recover before returning them to the outside.
15. Do you have a safe, climate-controlled place to keep cats in traps before and after surgery? Please answer yes or no and brief details about where you can keep the cats after surgery for a day or two.*
If you don't have a place to let them recover for a day or two after surgery, let's talk about your situation. We can find a solution!
16. Do you need to rent brown/gravity traps? Please answer yes or no and add any additional details if you'd like.*
17. Do you need to borrow a drop trap? Please answer yes or no and feel free to share additional details if you have any. *
If you need to rent brown trap(s) or a drop trap, there is a security deposit equal to the replacement value of the equipment that must be given at the time the trap(s) are rented. The security deposit will be returned to you when the equipment is returned in good, clean condition.
