Help with the Foster Cats and Kittens

When kitties are waiting to be adopted, they live in one of our kitty foster houses. Volunteers take shifts every morning and evening seven days a week where they help take care of the kitties. Have you ever bottle fed a tiny kitten?  Shifts usually take two hours to complete.  We usually ask for a commitment of one shift per week but would be happy to work with your schedule.

In addition to feeding and watering during a shift, other duties may include scooping, daily household chores, and of course socializing with our kitties. Training is provided and support is always available.

Laundry Assistance

Everett Animal Welfare Group in Pensacola is looking for a Laundry Assistant once a month. A wonderful local laundry has offered to let us use their machines (at no charge!) to wash and dry!

We will connect you with them so there will be no charge for you to do the wash for us. Large comforters and kitty beds are best done in a front loader at the laundromat. Time commitment is less than 3 hours from wash to dry to fold. Do it whenever it suits you and there is an attendant to clear the coin charge on the machine.

If you would like to volunteer as a Laundry Assistant, please fill out a volunteer application on our website. Thank you!

Adoption Events

We hold different adoption events where we socialize our kitties who are in foster care so when they are ready and old enough for adoption, they will have the social skills to make them irresistible! It gives the kitties the chance to meet lots of different people, hear new noises, ride in the car on the way to the event, play with toys, and get belly rubs. Volunteers at our events help console animals and help them relax in the unfamiliar environment. They do that by brushing and playing with the cats and kittens, and snuggling them so they get more good love!

It also gives the cats and kittens a chance to perhaps experience something they've maybe never known...how it feels to cuddle and hear soft noises when someone is talking sweetly to them. It's good for the kitties and it's fun for the volunteers!

Social Media, Website, Marketing, Administrative

Do you have a special talent for sharing news on social media or creating eye-catching flyers or posters? We are always looking for creative people to help at our fundraising events; encouraging people to come meet our fosters at an adoption event; or participate in a local fun activity. There are always small behind-the-scenes things happening, too, like signing people in at Kitty Yoga Classes, making posters, flyers, gift baskets, Facebook posts, signs, or handouts for some of our adoption events. Let us know if you have a special talent you would like to share!

TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) Help with Community Cats

Do you have experience doing TNR with community (feral) cats? Because we work with local caregivers caring for community cats in and around the Pensacola and surrounding areas, we are always grateful for help from volunteers who can help us in these areas:

  • Assistance in leading regular Trap, Neuter, and Return (TNR) classes for the public. Demonstrating the use of the traps, and explaining tactics in trapping while providing support for people who desire to do the right and humane thing.
  • Computer assistance sending registration/questionnaires to class attendees
  • Washing, sanitizing, and drying traps after use
  • Picking up cats from the vet and setting them up at the Recovery Cottage after surgery
  • Keeping TNR data--such as the number of people who follow through with spay/neuter of cats after attending one of our TNR classes; how many cats are spayed/neutered;  number of nights the kitties spend in the Recovery Cottage
  • Volunteering at the Recovery Cottage by cleaning and feeding the cats until they are ready to be returned to their outdoor home or to foster care
  • Laundry help washing and drying trap covers and sheets used to cover the traps and cages.
  • Transporting kitties to and from the vet for surgery
  • Keeping kitties for a day or two after their surgery (post-op) until they can be safely returned to their outside home

Are you a morning person? We love volunteer help when we are preparing to transport several trapped community cats from a local colony to be spayed or neutered at a veterinary clinic.

Volunteers are needed at the staging area to ensure the traps are covered and the cats are protected from the weather.

Help is needed to load the vehicle(s) and sometimes ride along. It's always great to have extra helping hands!
